Chicken Burger with Avocado Salsa and Such

Thursday, June 6, 2013

Since forever that fats send me (Crohn's) I always look for alternatives to things I love.  I need to try turkey again, maybe it's improved through the years.  IDK.  Ground chicken IS extremely dry, so you do have to add a little fat.

Total time:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground chicken
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 grated onion
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tsp olive or avocado oil

Instructions

  1. Mix all of the ingredients together until well blended.  Use your hands, otherwise the chicken will get gummy.
  2. Form into patties, and set aside.  Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium to medium low heat, spray with a mister, add the burgers, and a little more seasonings for the top.
  3. Continue to cook just as you would a beef burger, except check the temperature, it must reach 165 to be considered done.  (someone in my family has experience with raw chicken burgers made in another country).
  4. Serve with your favorite condiments, I used tomato, red onion, lettuce, and some salsa Verde blended with avocado.
