Cook time:15

Ingredients

  • 1/2- 1lb shrimp, cleaned and deveined
  • 3 cups napa cabbage, sliced thin
  • 1/2 onion, cut into small chunks
  • 2 stalks celery, sliced thin
  • 2 small carrots, julienned
  • Soy Sauce
  • Asian 5 spice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • Toasted Sesame Seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced thin diagonally
  • Sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Clean and prep your shrimp and the rest of the ingredients so they are ready to add when you cook.
  2. Mix the cornstarch and 5 spice together and add to your cleaned shrimp, tossing to coat.  Allow to sit for about 5 minutes.
  3. Heat your wok to high heat, till it begins to smoke.  Pour a tiny drizzle of the oil around the outside edge and let it sink to the bottom - add the shrimp and allow to cook until a crust is formed - then begin stirring till shrimp are cooked through.
  4. Remove the shrimp to a small plate, add the onions, carrots, and celery, cooking long enough to soften - 4-5 minutes.
  5. Add your rice, and cabbage and cook about 3-4 minutes - return the shrimp to your wok.  Drizzle some soy sauce around the edges and stir in - taste and adjust your seasonings.
  6. Serve and sprinkle some sesame seeds and green onions over the top and dig in.
